We Are So Much Like the Ants In a sense, we are very much like the ants. We each work on a shared project, with each of us contributing our part to benefit the whole. There’s practically no difference between us and the ants carrying straws on their backs, tirelessly building or maintaining their nests. We are born into this ‘family’ of existence without realizing it, each of us unknowingly continuing the order of the world, just as the ants do. Even when we may not be acting in the best interest of ourselves or others, even when we wander far from the direction of the greater project, we are still moving in the right direction. The ‘ways’ of the project are always maintained, regardless of our awareness. All of life, knowingly or unknowingly, participates in the endless cycle of growth, change, and evolution. The only constant in this vastness is the observation point—the space that holds everything, the unseen foundation of existence, ever-present and waiting. This space is like the mother waiting for her children to return to her, to come home. The nest, the foundation, is always there—holding, nurturing, and awaiting our return.
